ATA to expand operations

A Cavan manufacturing and distribution firm has reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to the county after it received the green light for a major development.

ATA Tools Ltd, based in the IDA Business and Technology Park, Killygarry, Cavan, lodged plans in February for approval with the local authority reaching a favourable decision last week. The planning permission is for the development of a two-storey industrial unit with office accommodation. The business was also approved to progress dedicated carparking to accommodate 105 vehicles, a 20-bay bicycle park, minor alterations to existing site entrance and the provision of marshalling yard.

The plans includes provision for services and all associated site works.

ATA is the leading global manufacturer and distributor of Tungsten carbide burs, abrasives and industrial air tools. The firm has six state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and is headquartered in Cavan.

Welcoming the planning approval, John Gibbons, group chief financial officer (CFO) of the engineering firm said: “ATA employs over 130 people at our head office in Cavan and has operating facilities in the UK, Germany and the USA.

“Obtaining planning for a new facility provides ATA with options for the company’s expansion plans and shows our ongoing commitment to Cavan, where we have operated for the last 45 years," he concluded.
