‘Pick me up’ at Nomad Coffee

Hopefully we will have long hot summer days ahead and, when out and about on the move, it is always a treat to get some refreshments - perhaps a good cup of coffee and a delicious snack.

Nomad Coffee is providing such a superb service in the Bailieboro at weekends. The business is set up in a unique converted horse box at the local GAA grounds on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 3pm.

Stephanie Rahill and David O’Gorman are the team behind Nomad Coffee. Stephanie told the Celt: "We take the orders from the front and they are dispensed at the rear."

She outlined: "Our focus at present is to provide high quality coffee to the Bailieboro area – we felt there was a marker there. Our suppliers are Coffee Perfection, a company based in Meath and offering a speciality coffee blend."

The business is particularly busy on Saturday mornings with parents and children before and after football training. "The location where we have set up is on the way out to the Castle Lake," added Stephanie.

They came up with the idea of having a horse box converted as a mobile coffee dock when they were giving consideration to opening up a café. "There was nothing like that around Bailieboro, so we saw it as an ideal opportunity to set up there," said Stephanie.

As a unique selling point, they use Jersey cow milk supplied by the Village Dairy. "It has a higher protein content and the milk is a lot creamier and adds a nice sweetness to the coffee – it compliments our coffee very well," explained Stephanie.

"We provide some sweet treats with the coffee and local girl from Bailieboro is proving us with cupcakes – Lotties Cakes and Bakes. We also get brownies from the Backyard Bakery in Virginia," she added.

The horsebox trailer is actually 80 years old and it retained its wonderful character during the transformation into a coffee dock.
