Garda probe after firearm discharged
No arrests have been made at this stage and “enquiries are ongoing.”
Gardaí are investigating reports of a firearm being discharged at a house in Clones last night.
A garda probe has now been launched following the incident which occurred shortly before midnight on Sunday, June 6. Members of An Garda Siochana attended the scene.
No injuries occurred as a result of the incident, but a man has been taken to hospital for medical assessment, a spokesperson for the force confirmed.
In a statement issued this afternoon, gardaí say they “responded to reports of a firearm being discharged at a residential premises in the Clones area of Monaghan on 06/06/2021 at 11.55pm.”
They add: “Gardaí attended the scene and seized a legally held firearm. No injuries occurred as a result of this incident.
“A man has been taken to hospital for medical assessment/treatment.”
To date, no arrests have been made at this stage and “enquiries are ongoing.”
