Crash victim named locally

Ms Rudden was hugely respected in the community having taught at Tierlahood National School for many years.

The woman who died tragically in a single vehicle yesterday morning (Friday) has been named locally.

Former primary school principal Molly Rudden (née Healy), from Cordegan, Stradone, Cavan and also Rosses Point, Sligo, died following the crash that occurred in the townland of Monelty, Stradone on June 18 at 10.15a.m.

She was the sole occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body was removed from the scene to Cavan General Hospital where a post mortem will take place in due course.

Gardaí meanwhile are appealing for any witnesses to the accident, particularly any road users with camera footage, to contact them at Cavan Garda Station on (049) 4368800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Ms Rudden was hugely respected in the community having taught at Tierlahood National School for many years.

She was also involved in large number of community organisations and her sudden death has shocked and deeply saddened the people living in the locality.

Ms Rudden is predeceased by her husband Sonny and infant daughter Mary.

Her death is deeply regretted by her heartbroken family Fionnuala, Patricia, Bernard and Yvonne, grandchildren Kate, Tom, Jack, Lara, Alanna, Kiera, Luke, Cian, Emma and Ciara, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, neighbours and many friends.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be confirmed later.
