Step back into Folkston Shoes

Folkston Store Manager Edward Tavey is thrilled to have his doors re-opened and reported last weekend as the busiest the store has ever seen.

“It’s been very good.. Last Saturday (5 June) was the busiest day I think we have ever had.”

With a wide range of women’s, men’s, and children’s footwear Edward, or better known as ‘Eddie,’ said there is a good selection for everybody.

“We carry a massive selection in brands which is a thing we push all the time,” he said.

With brands like Skechers, Birkenstock, Dubarry, Kate Appleby, Bourbon, Mustang, Dr Martens and Hunter, Folkston stocks everything right from basics up to high-end fashion and brands.

Folkston is expanding with a new children’s section, which will stock brands including Geox, Lelly Kelly, Asics and more.

“We’re adding kids at the minute... It will be all ready with the full collection for back to school,” assured Eddie.

The store also has an excellent selection of work footwear with more than 30 styles including No Risk, Grisport and Skechers steel toe work shoes.

“We’ve a whole big work section,” he commented.

Eddie reported that trainers are selling extremely fast, which doesn’t come as a surprise to the Folkston manager.

“They’re very popular at the minute, because of the lockdown everyone was out walking.

“People are walking everywhere, it’s gone crazy!”

Once people have replenished their walking shoes, he predicts that occasion wear sales will increase.

“People want to go out and put on new shoes like high heels. All they want to do is dress up and head out, they don’t want to wear runners anymore they’re just sick of it.”

The store operated a limited ‘click and collect’ service throughout the lockdown but they do not promote online sales.”We don’t really do online,” he explained that the Folkston team put their effort into making the in-store experience unforgettable for their customers.

“Online is just bland and boring no matter how different you try to make it... It’s not the same.”

“It is just clicking and then waiting around, it’s not exciting.”

On the other hand, the Folkston store is modern and trendy with plenty of helpful staff bursting with excitement to welcome customers back in through the doors.

“Customers come in for the experience of the shop, it’s very hard to transfer that to online.”

With a “great big store” social distancing is not an issue at Folkston and precautions such as sanitising are in place.

Eddie and all the Folkston team would like to thank their customers for their support and are delighted to see them in person again.

“It’s good to get people back in, to see people excited about the store and excited about shopping,” he concluded.
