Man to appear in court in connection with Lordship CU robbery

Dundalk Gardaí have arrested and charged a male aged in his 30s in relation to the robbery of Lordship Credit Union, Bellurgan, Jenkinstown, Dundalk, Co. Louth, on January 25.

He is scheduled to appear before Dundalk District Court this morning, July 15. RTÉ has reported the male is to be charged with robbery at Lordship Credit Union and conspiracy to commit burglary.

Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe was shot dead at Lordship Credit Union on 25 January 2013. A total of €7,000 was stolen during the robbery.

Meanwhile, it is understood that another man has also today been arrested in connection with the same robbery. Asked for a response, a gardaspokesperson said:

"An Garda Síochána is aware of an arrest by the UK National Crime Agency on today’s date on foot of a European Arrest Warrant from the Irish Authorities.

"An Garda Síochána cannot comment on matters before the courts in another jurisdiction."
