It is with regret that we note the deaths in our community over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

James Francis (Big Jim) Hand

Drummerloughbeg, Magheracloone, Carrickmacross, Monaghan / Kingscourt, Cavan

The death has occurred of James Francis (Big Jim) Hand, Drummerloughbeg, Magheracloone, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, peacefully and surrounded by his family at Our Lady of Lourdes, Drogheda, 11th August 2021.

Predeceased by his parents Jim and Mary, sister Anna and son Rory. Deeply regretted by his wife Rosie, daughters Rosemarie, Caroline, Pauline, Catherina, Carmel, son James. Sadly missed by his loving grandchildren & great grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Rest In Peace.

Due to government advice regarding public gatherings a private funeral Mass will take place for family in St Peter & Paul’s Church, Lower Magheracloone with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Jim's funeral cortège will begin from his home on Friday morning, travelling via Main Street, Kingscourt, Corrygarry and the “Ball Alley” to St Peter and St. Paul’s Church beginning at 10.15 am.

Neighbours and friends are very welcome to line that route in a safe and socially distanced manner as a mark of respect.

Frank Boylan

Carrickanoran, Monaghan Town, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Frank Boylan, of Hartwell, Georgia, USA, and formerly of Carrickanoran, Monaghan and Canada.

Frank passed away surrounded by his loving family on 9th August 2021.

Deeply regretted by his heartbroken wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, nephews, nieces, extended family members and wide circle of friends throughout the USA, Ireland and Canada.

May He Rest in Peace.

A private funeral mass will take place for Frank in Georgia on Thursday 12th August at 4pm Irish time.

A memorial service to celebrate Frank's life will also be arranged at a later time in Monaghan.

Rose Marron

Shantonagh, Castleblayney, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Rose Marron, Toey, Shantonagh, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan. Wednesday, August 11th, peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her parents Kate and Thomas, brother Thomas and her sister MaryAnne Sheridan. Rose, deeply regretted and remembered with love by her sister Kathleen Dolan (Roscommon), brother Paddy (Toey), nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

May Rose’s Gentle Soul Rest In Eternal Peace.

Rose will repose at home amongst her family and friends and Rose’s Funeral cortège will travel from her residence on Friday morning at 10:30am to arrive at The Sacred Heart Church, Lough Egish for funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Due to the current restrictions on numbers at funeral ceremonies, Rose’s funeral Mass will be celebrated in the presence of her family.
