Mary Hanratty (née Carry)

Kilnalun, Kingscourt, Meath / Kingscourt, Cavan

The death has occurred of Mary Hanratty née Carry, Kilnalun, Kingscourt, Co. Meath, peacefully at her home & surrounded by family, 14th August 2021.

Predeceased by husband P.J. and her sisters Peggy and Anne.

Deeply regretted by her daughters Kathleen, Philomena and Geraldine, sons Peter, Kevin, Thomas and Martin, brothers Paddy and Thomas, sisters Kathleen, Rosie, Sheila and Bridie. Sadly missed by her sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters, in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Due to government advice regarding public gatherings, a private funeral Mass will take place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Mary’s Funeral Mass will be available to view online at 10am on Monday morning, 16th August, on the following link;

Mary's funeral cortège will begin from her home on Sunday evening, travelling via Church Street and Hall Street, Kingscourt to the Church of the Immaculate Conception from 6.30 pm.

Nora Fitzsimons (née Morrissey)

Lurganboy, Virginia, Cavan / Newtownshandrum, Cork

Nora Fitzsimons (nee Morrissey), Lurganboy, Virginia, Co. Cavan (formerly Newtownshandrum, Cork) 12th August 2021, peacefully at home in the loving care of her family. Predeceased by her brother Michael. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving husband Eamon, son John, daughters Lisa and Geraldine, daughter-in-law Barbara and her adoring grandchildren, Josh, Aoibhe, Zach and Sorcha. Sadly, missed by her brothers and sisters, Mary Beglane (Sligo), Rita Hickey (Milford, Cork), Pat (London), Maurice (London), Teresa Gill (London), Eamon (Sligo), Richard (Dromina, Cork), Kay Morey (Milford, Cork), Nell Noonan (Newtownshandrum, Cork), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law. Sadly, missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, and wide circle of friends.

Nora’s family would like to acknowledge the dedication of all who looked after her, in particular her Carers, the Public Health Nurses, the Palliative Care Team, the doctors and staff at the Mater Private Hospital.

Nora’s funeral cortege will leave her residence on Saturday, 14th August, at 10.45am to arrive at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Knocktemple, for Funeral Mass at 11.00am, followed by private cremation in Lakelands Crematorium at 1pm. Due to Government/HSE guidelines the funeral will be for 50 people only.

House strictly private at all times. Family flowers only, donations, in lieu, to the Irish Cancer Society and The Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland.

Seamus McGovern

Drumoghra, Cavan Town, Cavan

Seamus McGovern, Drumoghra, Cavan, Friday, August 13th, peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Mater Private Hospital. Pre-deceased by his parents Michael and Kathleen, brothers Andy and Willie. Beloved husband of Bernie and dear father of Declan, Colin, Barry, Tracey, Mark, Jimmy, Shane, Gavin and Gabriel. Sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughter, son in law, daughters in law, his 17 treasured grandchildren, brothers Packie (Galway), Michael, and Eamon, sisters Kathleen, Vera, Susan and Bernie, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends.

Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan, on Saturday from 4.00pm until 6.30pm. Removal from his home on Sunday afternoon at 2.30pm to the Cathedral of SS Patrick and Felim, Cavan, to arrive for requiem Mass at 3.00pm. Interment afterwards in St Brigid's Cemetery Killygarry. House private, please.

James (Jimmy) McGuinness

Castleknock, Dublin / Cootehill, Cavan

McGUINNESS, James (Jimmy) (Castleknock, Dublin 15 and formerly of Cootehill, Co. Cavan) August 12th., 2021 (peacefully) in the loving care of the staff at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. Beloved husband of the late Maura and dear father of Fergus, Seamus, Gráinne, Fiona and Niamh and dear brother of the late Bridie; Jimmy will be sadly missed by his loving sons, daughters, grandchildren Eóin, Rory, Ashling, Siobhán, Meghan, Colm, Erin, Luke and Daniel, sons-in-law Chris, Brendan and Pete, daughters-in-law Geraldine and Maura, brothers Paschal, Eamon and Tony, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

WICKHAM (née Morris), Joan (Raheny and formerly of Cavan) - August 13th, 2021, (peacefully) at home. Beloved wife of the late Richard (Dick). Sadly missed by her loving daughter Morna, sons Brian and Conor, son-in-law Frank, daughters-in-law Áine and Aideen, grandchildren Richard, Andrew, Emer, Róisin, Ciara, Sine, Ian and Laoise, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Due to government advice regarding public gatherings, a family funeral will take place on Monday (August 16th) at 11 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Kilbarrack followed by cremation to Dardistown Crematorium. Margaret Malone (née McNamee)

Lurgans, Carrickmacross, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Margaret Malone (née McNamee), Lurgans, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, peacefully at The Louth County Hospital, Dundalk, Thursday, 12th August 2021. Predeceased by her husband Thomas, son Gerard and daughter Mary. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sons William, James, Thomas and Fintan, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, sister Ann Moore, (Castlebellingham), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and her many friends.

May Her Gentle Soul Rest In Peace.

Reposing at her residence on Saturday morning from 10am. Removal on Sunday morning at 11am arriving at St. Joseph’s Church, Carrickmacross for 11.50am. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon (limited to 50). Burial afterward In St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Carrickmacross.

There will be an opportunity for neighbours and friends to pay their respects on Sunday morning by lining the route via Lurgan’s, Penny Bridge, Parnell Street and Main Street to St. Joseph’s Church, in a socially distanced manner.
