Cavan sees slight drop in number signing on

Cavan has seen a slight drop in the number of people signing on the live register.

The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show 3,031 people were signing on in the county in August, down by 47 on the month previous.

Both Social Protection offices in the county, in Cavan town and Ballyconnell, saw a drop in their numbers last month.

Some 2,433 people were signing on in Cavan town, with another 598 in Ballyconnell.

The number of people on the live register in County Cavan has been mixed across 2021.

In total 3,093 people were signing on in January, the highest figure this year, while May saw the lowest point at 2,810.

The county saw a drop of 550 in the number signing on in August, compared with the same month last year.

The live register includes part-time workers who work up to three days a week and seasonal and casual workers who are entitled to Jobseeker's Benefit and Jobseeker's Allowance.
