Warning issued as thunderstorms expected in Cavan

Met Éireann has issued a weather warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain.

The forecaster says the entire country can expect bad weather today, tonight and into tomorrow.

It's issued a yellow weather warning which is valid until 12 noon tomorrow.

It says localised flooding may occur where the rainfall is heaviest.

The UK Met Office, meanwhile, has issued a separate warning for Northern Ireland.

It's in place from 10am tomorrow for the entire province. It says heavy showers and thunderstorms "have the potential to bring surface water flooding in a few places and disruption to travel".
