Tully gets Cavan off to a great start at Ploughing Championships

A Kingscourt ploughman secured Cavan's first silverware of the 90th National Ploughing Championships during yesterday's competition.

Andrew Tully secured third place in the fiercely competitive 3 Furrow Conventional Plough Class Junior category.

The Cornaman scored an impressive 172, just three points behind second place and 10 points behind the overall champion from Tipperary South.

Cavan's only other competitor yesterday was Danny Pakenham in the Vintage 2 Furrow Trailer Plough Class. The Fairtown Lower came 11th in his category.

Buoyed by their showing on Day 1, the six remaining Cavan team members will be eager to put in more good displays over the coming days.
