The Justice Minister has paid tribute to local District Court Judge Denis McLoughlin.

The 62 year old died suddenly yesterday.

He had served in the Cavan-Monaghan District after being appointed to the Bench in 2007.

Prior to that he had worked as a Solicitor from his office in Balbriggan.

Justice Minister Heather Humphreys today paid tribute to him, saying he “has given many years of dedicated service to the people of Cavan and Monaghan”.

“In his fair and considered manner, Judge McLoughlin was a consistent example of our judiciary at its compassionate and considered best”, she said.

His Honour Judge Paul Kelly, the President of the District Court, yesterday led tributes saying: “I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear that Judge Denis McLoughlin passed away suddenly”.

“He was a wonderful colleague, and a friend to many of us in the District Court”, he continued.
