Minute's silence held to mark death of local Judge

It was the first sitting of the Court since he died.

A minute’s silence was held at the start of Cavan District Court this morning to mark the passing of Judge Denis McLoughlin.

The 62 year old died suddenly last week.

He was appointed to District Number Five, covering Cavan and Monaghan, in 2015 after having been appointed to the Bench in 2007.

Today’s sitting of Cavan District Court was the first local sitting to be held since his death.

Judge Gerry Jones began the sitting asking those in Court to stand for a minute’s silence as a mark of respect.

Tributes were paid to Judge McLoughlin after his passing.
