Science Festival competition winners
Cavan County Council have announced the winners of the Cavan Monaghan Science Festival photography. The competition winners were revealed ahead of 6th Cavan Monaghan Science Festival that runs from tomorrow Saturday, November 6 to To Sunday, November 14, 2021.
Cavan County Council and Monaghan County Council are joining forces during Science Week by hosting the 6th Cavan Monaghan Science Festival.
The objectives of the festival are to increase the awareness and visibility of science in our society, promote the importance of science for economic growth, to promote STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) at a local & regional level and to show that STEAM is fun, educational and social.
In advance of the festival, a photography competition to showcase “Local Garden Birds” took place throughout October.
1st place

2nd place
Will Daly, (15), Bailieborough Community School, submitted by Eileen Mooney, Art Teacher.

Under-12 category winner
The winner in the under-12 category was Ryan Gibson (8), Mountnugent school
Special commendation
Dzhannat Podzinsha, (13) Loreto College Cavan received a special commendation for her sensitive portrayal of a dying bird.
