Could Killinkere have another shot at the title?

Killinkere GAA's bid to host the Gart Brooks concerts in 2014 may not come to pass in 2022 as the American Country superstar is set to offer five shows at Croke Park next year.

The East Cavan club offered Brooks an alternative venue in the club grounds when his bid to play five night in a row was scuppered by local objections in 2014.

“Come and play for Killinkere,” they said in the 2014 Twitter post, after plans for two of his Dublin concerts fell through.

The “Friends In Low Places” star pulled the plug on all his 2014 shows and Killinkere never got to show him the delights of the parish.

Today it was announced that Brooks will play five concerts at Croke Park next year with tickets on sale for all dates this morning. The country star was originally granted permission for three concerts as part of the stadium's planning permission for three music events a year.

In early November, an event licence was granted by the city council for two more dates following a planning procedure involving public consultation. This morning it was revealed Brooks will play two extra dates at the stadium on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 2022.
