Hail and sleet later this evening

Scattered showers today, with lowest temperatures of 0 to 3 degrees tonight

A blustery weekend is expected with high winds set to return.

Met Eireann's brutal prediction even says snow is possible and the weather is set to worsen this weekend.

While dry this morning, with bright spells even breaking out in some parts, national forecaster Met Eireann predicts that cloud will build across Ulster from the Atlantic as the day progresses.

“Staying dry for most apart from isolated showers or patches of drizzle. Showers will turn more frequent this evening. Highest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees in a light variable breeze.”

Those showers though could make way for hail and even sleep later in the evening, when temperatures are expected to fall to freezing.

“A band of showery rain will move eastwards across the province early tonight with scattered showers following behind. Some showers will be heavy with the potential for hail and sleet, particularly over higher ground.”

Lowest temperatures of 0 to 3 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly winds.
