Man stabbed as he sat in his car

Gardaí in Navan are appealing for witnesses in relation to a serious assault that occurred in the Balrath Woods area of Burtonstown yesterday evening, Sunday, 26th December 2021.

The incident is believed to have occurred at approximately 8pm. A man, aged in his 40s, was in his car at this time when two males approached the vehicle and attacked him. The man received a number of stab wounds.

He later received treatment at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Gardaí are asking for any person who may have witnessed this incident or who may have information to come forward. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was near the entrance to Balrath Woods, Burtonstown, between 7.30 – 9.00pm on Sunday, 26th December 2021 and who may noticed any persons or vehicles to contact investigating Gardaí.

Any road users who may have been passing the area at this time and who has dash-cam footage is also asked to make this available to Gardaí.
