John Brown

Oldcastle Road, Ballyjamesduff, Cavan

John Brown, (Retired Postman), Oldcastle Road, Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan, Monday, 3rd January 2022, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his father Edward, mother Katie and son Jimmy. Beloved husband & best friend of Maureen, loving father of Sean (Liz) Brown Wexford, Anne (Kevin) Smith Mountnugent, Marie (Padraig) Smith Ballyjamesduff (BJD), Fiona (Pascal) McCaul BJD, Carmel Sexton (Sean) Laragh and daughter-in-law Josephine, BJD. He will be sadly missed by his nineteen loving grandchildren, his great grandchild Cormac, his brother-in-laws, sister-in-law, extended family and a wide circle of friends.

John will be reposing at Briody's Funeral Home, Kilnaleck, from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday, 4th of January. Walk through only, please. Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, Ballyjamesduff, at 12pm on Wednesday, followed by burial afterwards in the new cemetery. Please follow HSE guidelines & government restrictions regarding Covid.

Florence (Florrie) Sherriff (née Bingham)

Bailieborough Road, Kingscourt, Cavan

The death has occurred of Florence (Florrie) Sherriff, née Bingham, Bailieborough Road, Kingscourt, Co Cavan, peacefully at Esker Lodge Nursing Home, Cavan, Monday, 3rd January, 2022, in her 92nd year, always surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Percival (Percy), brothers Alan and Ernie and her sister Violet, Florrie will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends.

Safe in the arms of Jesus

Funeral service on Wednesday, 5th January, in St Ernan's Church, Kingscourt at 11am for family only. Burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining graveyard for family and close friends. Family flowers only.

Florrie's funeral cortège will leave her home at 10.45am on Wednesday morning and travel via Bailieborough Road and Main Street to St Ernan's Church, Kingscourt arriving at 11am for family Funeral Service.

Please adhere to continued HSE and government guidelines, wear face coverings, observe social distancing and no handshaking.

Sr. Mary Norbert Sorohan

Burnley, England, Ballinagh, Cavan

Sr. Mary Norbert, Franciscan Convent, Burnley, England. Formerly Phyllis Sorohan, Dillagh, Ballinagh, Co. Cavan, who died peacefully on Saturday 1st January 2022, aged 90 years in the loving care of her Community in the Franciscan Convent. Pre-deceased by her parents John and Mary Kate, brother Seamus, and sister Monica.

Sadly missed by her Franciscan Community, her brothers Pat, (Moynehall), John (Garrymore) and Joe (Dillagh), sisters Peggy Kenrick (Cork), Cora Gleeson (London), Brigid Kane (Dingins, Cavan), Rose McCahill (Dublin), Kathleen Enright (London), Pauline Donohoe (Oghill), Olive Maguire (Mullingar) and Ita Brennan (Dublin), sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family.

May she rest in Peace.

Sr Mary Norbert's Funeral will take place in Burnley at a later date.

Sean Burns

Ther Cottages, Doohamlet, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Sean Burns, The Cottages, Doohamlet and formerly Drumcrew, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan. Thursday December 30th 2021.

Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Mary Elizabeth.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his Aunt Ann, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Sean’s Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday 6th January at 11:30 am in St. Mary’s Church, Castleblayney with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Norman Patterson

Derrins, Drum, Monaghan

Peacefully on Sunday, 2nd January 2022, at the Lisdarn Unit, Cavan Hospital.

Pre-deceased by his sisters Edna and Dorothea (Stewart).

Resting at the home of his niece Carole Morrow, Drum, until removal on Wednesday, 5th January, at 12.30pm, for funeral service in Drum, Church of Ireland, at 1pm. Interment afterwards in the adjoining Church yard. Please adhere to the current social distancing guidelines at all times.

House private please, due to the current COVID-19 restrictions.

Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Norman, if so desired to Cavan/ Monaghan Palliative Care, (Cheques made payable to same), C/o Conly Funeral Directors, Ballybay, Co Monaghan or any family member.

Norman will be dearly missed by his brother Howard (Kill, Cootehill), sisters Hilda, (England), Laura and Daphne, (Enniskillen), nieces, nephews and all the family circle.
