Council carry out repairs Covid centre entrance

Covid Testing centre was reportedly operating at “maximum capacity” with up to 450 attendees per day over festive period.

Cavan County Council has carried out repairs to the road surface at the main entrance to Castle Saunderson.

Locals and those attending the Cavan Covid test centre currently located at the International Scouting Centre had complained about the condition of the site entrance.

Subsequently, representations then made by local elected officials to the council directly seeking their intervention.

Issues concerning the road entrance deteriorated in the run up to and over the festive period when the Cavan Covid Testing centre was reportedly operating at “maximum capacity” with up to 450 attendees per day.

Since Christmas, December 25, 2021, up to Monday last, January 10, 2022, a total of 5,664 tests were carried out at the Cavan CTC.

Earlier this week Cavan County Council said it was “aware of issues” regarding the road surface at the main entrance to Castle Saunderson and has “already commenced repair work” at the site.

Some of those works were completed yesterday (Thursday, January 13).
