Additional accommodation approved for St Bricin's

Application for the additional accommodation submitted by Cavan Monaghan ETB.

The provision of a eight new classrooms through temporary modular buildings has been approved for St Bricin’s College in Belturbet.

The additional accommodation for the school, which has been threatened with closure as part of proposed plans to merge it with St Mogues' College in Bawnboy, has been approved by Minister for Education, Norma Foley.

Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil TD, Brendan Smith, welcomed the decision.

He said it had recently engaged again with Minister Foley in relation to the “urgent need” to approve an application for the additional accommodation submitted by Cavan Monaghan ETB.

“This is a very welcome development and will enhance significantly the classroom accommodation at St. Bricin’s College,” he said.

The Cavan-Monaghan TD added: “I am glad to have supported the Principal, Board of Management and the ETB in their application to have this accommodation provided.”
