It is with regret that we note the following deaths in our community over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

George Wilton

The death has occurred of George Wilton, Kiffa, Crosserlough, Cavan. Friday, January 28, 2022 (peacefully) at home surrounded by his loving family. Sadly missed by his loving wife Doreen, daughters; Lorna, Karen and Denise, son; Rodney, daughter in law, sons in law, sisters Betty, Evelyn and Olive, brothers in law, grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Resting at his home on Saturday, January 29 from 2pm to 7pm. Removal on Sunday, January 30 to St. Patrick's Church, Kildrumferton for funeral service at 2pm followed by burial in adjoining churchyard. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Oncology Unit Cavan General Hospital c/o Connie Briody Funeral Director or any family member.

Bridie Tierney

The death has occurr­ed of Bridie Tierney, Lisduff PO. Virginia, Cavan on Friday, January 28, 2022, peacefully in the loving care of her family and staff at St. Colmcille's Nursing Home, Kells. Predeceased by her beloved husband Michael, her sister Mary and her parents Joseph and Kathleen. Sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Remains reposing at Matthews Funeral Home, Bailieborough Road, Virginia (A82YV58) on Saturday evening from 6 o'clock until rosary at 8 o'clock. Walk through only please. Removal on Sunday arriving to St. Matthew’s Church, Maghera for 1 o'clock Funeral Mass with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

Teresa Smith

The death has occurred of Teresa Smith (née Donegan) 141 Aughnaskerry, Cavan Town, Cavan

on Friday, January 28 2022, peacefully, in the loving care of her family and staff at Cavan General Hospital. Predeceased by her husband John, sons Martin, Joseph, Jimmy and baby John.

Teresa will be very sadly missed and forever loved by her devoted family, Bridget, Peggy, Peter, John, Susan, Christine, Kathleen, Stephen, Harry, Charlie, Noel, Teresa, Mary and Geraldine, her sons in law, daughters in law all her adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, brother, sisters, nephews, nieces, all her family circle and many many friends.

Gerry Lynch

The death has occurred of Gerry Lynch, The Shop, Cabra, Threemilehouse, Monaghan. Gerry passed away peacefully in the care of the staff of Cavan General Hospital surrounded by his loving family, Friday, January 28.

Beloved husband of Eileen and adored father of Ronan, Derrick, Nigel and Tirnach. Gerry will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his wife, sons, daughters-in-law Olga, Joanna, Karrie and Alicja, grandchildren, Eoghan, Rebecca, Oisín, Annabelle, Lochlann, Seán and Olivia, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, neighbours, friends and by all who knew and loved Gerry

Vincy O’Brien

The death has occurred of Vincy O’Brien, 25 Woodview, Killygoan, Monaghan, Thursday, January 27, peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his family. Vincy, deeply regretted and remembered with love by his family, his wife Annemarie, son Jonathan, daughter Danielle, mother in-law Marie Murray, brothers Paddy, Brendan, Seamus, Dermott and Paul, brothers in-law, sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

May Vincy’s gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

Reposing at his residence, 25 Woodview, Killygoan, Saturday, from 2pm until 8pm and again Sunday from 2pm until 8pm. Removal from his residence on Monday morning at 10.20am, proceeding on foot via Dr Mc Kenna Terrace to arrive at St Macartan’s Cathedral, Monaghan for funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial in Latlurcan Cemetery, House private to family & friends on Monday morning only. Please adhere to the current government and HSE covid guide lines while attending Vincy’s wake and funeral.
