National Care Day event postponed

Plans to mark this year National Care Day today (Friday February 18) have been put on hold because of Storm Eunice. National Care Day is a global celebration of the successes and achievements of children and young people with experience of care.

Tusla in Cavan and Monaghan and Teach Oscail Family Resource Centre had hoped to recognise and celebrate all the young people in care and aftercare in this area as part of the day, however the weather warnings issued by Met Éireann have put a halt to the plans.

This year it was planned to screen a a graphic animation developed by Teach Oscail Family Resource Centres in Cavan and Monaghan Town Centres to raise awareness of Care Day 2022. In Cavan and Monaghan there are 158 Children and Young People in Care with 82 adults in aftercare.

These young people are supported by 105 Foster Carers. All four Family Resource Centres in Cavan/Monaghan are fortunate to meet and provide for Children in Care and After Care with supports to build on their already astounding resilience.
