JDH delivers MOTM performance in front of 'Home' crowd

Ballyjamesduff native scores impressive brace to help Hibs climb to fourth in Scottish Premiership

Jake Doyle-Hayes helped Hibernian climb to fourth in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon with two superb and powerful strikes from outside the box.

The two goals sent the Easter Road faithful into raptures of joy, with none quite so ecstatic as the dozen or so from the Ballyjamesduff area who had travelled over to watch their local boy deliver arguably his best performance of the season.

'JDH' for short, or often referred to as the 'Irish Iniesta' for his midfield prowess, struck in the 50th and 78th minute to help Shaun Maloney's men ease their way past league strugglers Ross County.

It ended a winless league run for Hibs too which stretched back as far as St Stephen's Day last year, December 26.

With the weekend win, Hibs climbed three places and away from the prospect of being sucked into a relegation battle, and now sit ahead of Motherwell on goal difference.

For his first goal, JDH combined with fellow midfield partner Josh Campbell after the visiting team failed to clear a corner. The Cavan native, moving the ball to his favoured foot, then hammered home past a flailing Charles-Cook in goal.

Having anchored the middle of the park with aplomb all afternoon, JDH's second goal was a genuine moment of magic, controlling the ball on his chest before volleying his finish into the corner of the net.

JDH signed for Hibs in June last year having started his career across the Irish Sea at Aston Villa, before making 30 appearances for St Mirren, scoring once.
