Friday, February 25, will be national day of reading!

‘Squeeze in a Read’ with Cavan Libraries

Ireland Reads is a campaign to get the whole country reading this month.

Today, Friday, February 25, marks a national day of reading. This public libraries' initiative, in partnership with publishers, booksellers and authors, supports the Government’s Healthy Ireland at your Local Library campaign.

Cavan Library Service invites Cavan people of all ages to ‘Squeeze in a Read’ on the day. Why? Because taking some time for yourself to relax and do the things you enjoy (like reading) is important to help look after your mental wellbeing. As part of the national campaign, there is a dedicated website, www.irelandreads.ie, where you can get involved and take the pledge to ‘squeeze in a read’ on the day. There are also lots of reading suggestions and more than 1,500 book recommendations from librarians all around the country.

Library staff in Johnston Central, Bailieborough and Cootehill libraries look forward to welcoming readers into the branches to celebrate the day with them. Now that all restrictions have lifted and library spaces are open again, there is a variety of events planned for the day including art workshops in Cootehill and Bailieborough and storytelling, scéalta as gaeilge, and much more.

All details are at www.cavanlibrary.ie and on Cavan Library Facebook and Twitter pages.
