Multi-car collision forces N3 closure

Three vehicles were involved in the crash near Butlersbridge.

A multi-vehicle collision near Butlersbridge in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday, March 2) has forced the closure of part of the N3.

The section of the road where the crash occurred, in the townland of Drunhurk between the Butlersbridge N3 junction and the turn off to Deredis/ Loreto, will remain closed to traffic for the rest of the day, The Anglo-Celt can confirm.

It's understood that three vehicles were involved in the crash.

Several fire units remain at the scene, and the road has been closed off by gardaí, with diversions in place with north and southbound traffic asked to proceed via Butlersbridge village via the Old Belturbet Road.

There are currently no update in relation to the condition of any of the persons involved in the accident.

“The N3 is currently closed between Butlersbridge and the turn off for Deredis following a road traffic collision. Diversions in place via Old Butlersbridge Road,” the council said in a post shared on social media.
