All smiles, as Cavan Business Women’s Club members are delighted to be back networking at their first in-person event post covid with a very suitable theme ‘Resetting Yourself & Your Business’.

Resetting your business post pandemic

After a full two years of meeting virtually during the Covid pandemic, there was great excitement as Cavan Business Women’s Club (CBWC) held its 2022 launch, an in-person event in the Hotel Kilmore on International Women’s Day.

As the number of places for the event in the hotel were restricted, there was also the option for guests to join the event virtually via Zoom. Part of Local Enterprise Week 2022, some 50 women in business came together on Tuesday, March 8, to network, discuss business and hear from the guest speakers.

Cavan business woman, and CBWC network member, Anna Costello, owner of a number of a number of businesses including Utopia the Skincare Specialists and Newgenskin Ltd, spoke about how she had to pivot her business after the experience of the pandemic on the beauty products sector. She also gave practical business tips to the women at the event on how she went about the process of changing her business model.

Also speaking was Breda McCague, an ex-military lieutenant, and now a transformational specialist, who gave a workshop on ‘Resetting You & Your Business’, reflecting on the lessons learned over the past two years and focusing on new skills acquired, learning how to rebuild our ambition, deal with fears and excel at decision making.

Breda suggests that the three ‘Must-Haves’ for success are:

1. Visualisation & Clarity

2. Mastering Your Fears

3. Celebrating your Small Wins.

Marcella Rudden, head of enterprise, Local Enterprise Office Cavan, thanked the members of Cavan Business Women’s Club for supporting the initiative since she launched it in May 2013 and congratulated all involved, as the club enters its ninth year.

Marcella pointed out that, before the CBWC was established, there was no formal network for women in business in the Cavan area and commented on the success of the initiative having had 60 meetings over the eight years since launch date, with some 115 inspirational talks engaging over 500 women in business.

Marcella also launched a new video explaining what Cavan Business Women’s Club offers, which will be shared through the network’s social media platforms.

Master of Ceremonies, and coordinator of Cavan Business Women’s Club, Margaret McKeon-Boyle, made sure the event ran smoothly.

The next meeting of Cavan Business Women’s Club will be held on Wednesday, April 20 when, along with a guest speaker, members of the Cavan Business Women’s Club will be invited to speak about their business offering.
