It is with regret that we note the following deaths in our community over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

John Lennon, B.E., MIEI

10 Earlsvale Road, Cavan.

Former Ballinagh Area Engineer, Cavan County Council. (Wednesday March 16th.), peacefully, at home, in his 89th year, in the devoted care of his family. Following many illnesses borne with quiet acceptance. Predeceased by his parents James and Helen, Lisameen, Moatefarrell, Co. Longford, his brothers Jim and Eugene and his nephew Jimmy (New Jersey). John will be greatly missed and forever remembered with love by his wife Anne, daughter Elaine, son Gavin (Lynne) his cherished granddaughter Grace and grandson Jake, his brother Enda (New Jersey), sisters Veronica Lennon (London) and Anne King (Dublin): nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law Irene and Bernadette, the extended Murray family, former colleagues in Cavan County Council, Irish Land Commission, Longford County Council, the Crown Service, Maiduguri, Nigeria, many friends, good neighbours, devoted carers and his former golf buddies.

Reposing at the McMahon Funeral Home, Farnham Road, Cavan on Friday evening from 5pm until 7pm. For the protection of all, please wear a mask, no hand shakes and observe social distancing guidelines. Requiem Mass to give thanks for John's long life will take place at 12 noon on Saturday, March 19th, in the Cathedral of St. Patrick & Felim, Cavan, followed by removal to Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan.

Patrick (Paddy) Cassidy

Parnell Street & formerly Annaheen, Killanny, Carrickmacross

17th March 2022. Peacefully, in the wonderful care of the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. Predeceased by his parents Frank & Brigid, his brother Francie & his nephew Terry. Sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, his daughters Fiona & Joanne & their mother Esther, his sister-in-law Bríd, his nephew Shane, his nieces Karen & Kim, his grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives & friends.

Paddy will repose at Lonergan Funeral Directors Funeral Home, A81D328, on Friday, 18th March, from 5pm until 7pm.

Paddy's funeral cortège will leave Lonergan Funeral Directors Funeral Home on Saturday, 19th March, at 10:45am, proceeding on foot to St. Joseph's Church, Carrickmacross, for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in St. Enda's Cemetery, Killanny.

Anna Mc Cullagh (nee Thornton)

Drummuck, Stannooden, Co. Monaghan

Wednesday, 16th March, peacefully, at Monaghan Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Harry and sister Mary. Deeply regretted by her loving sons Declan (Anne-Marie), Garrett (Jane), grandson Mark, sisters Kathleen O'Kelly (Dublin), Margaret Kane (Athy), Gusstina Mc Dermott (Clones), Bridie Mc Adam (Monaghan), Monica Corr (Annyalla), Imelda O'Sullivan (Monaghan), Frances Farrell (Maudabawn) and brother Thomas (Corcaghan), uncle Jim, sisters in law, brothers in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of friends.

Remains reposing at her residence from 6pm to 9pm today, Thursday, from 2pm to 9pm tomorrow, Friday, with removal on Saturday morning to St Michael's Church, Corcaghan, arriving for 12 o'clock funeral Mass. Burial will take place immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. House private on Saturday morning to family and friends, please

Noel McMahon

Mullinary, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan

Peacefully, at his residence, Thursday 17th March 2022. Predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary, his sister Doreen and Kathleen, brother Laurence (Kevin). Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving wife Bernie, his children Pádraig, Brianán, Colla, Fionnuala and Maolíosa, their partners Ailbhe, Andy, Bridgín, Paul and David, grandchildren Alíona, Claudia, Calvin, Fiachra and Tiarnach, brothers Peadar, Jimmy, Anthony and Sylvester, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Deery’s Funeral Home, Carrickmacross (A81 C653) tomorrow, Friday afternoon, from 4pm to 8pm. Removal on Saturday afternoon from Deery’s Funeral Home, on foot, via Noel’s residence (Mullinary) and The Bridge, arriving at St. Joseph's Church, Carrickmacross for Requiem Mass at 4pm. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Carrickmacross.
