Heartbreak as Monaghan crash victim named

Kieran Brennan was highly regard across the region for his charitable work

There is heartbreak within the close-knit biker community across the border region after the victim of last weekend's fatal road traffic collision in Monaghan was named.

Kieran Brennan, Old Gortmore School, Gortmore North, Smithborough, and formerly Gallagh, Clontibret, Co. Monaghan, was Club President of Bad Examples Motorcycle Club.

The crash, on the Old Armagh Road outside Monaghan town on Saturday last, March 19, occurred as Mr Brennan and other club members had been involved fundraising for Ukraine earlier in the day.

Mr Brennan and the Bad Examples MMC are highly regard across the region for their charitable work, which includes an annual Christmas visit to the Holy Family School in Cootehill.

Mr Brennan tragically died following a two vehicle collision, involving a car and his motorbike which occurred at approximately 4.50pm.

Mr Brennan received treatment at the scene from paramedics but was later pronounced deceased.

His body was subsequently removed to the mortuary at Monaghan General Hospital for post-mortem.

There were no other injuries reported arising from the incident, and gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them.

Paying tribute, Bad Examples MMC said on social media: “It is with Deep regret and sadness that we have to announce the death of our Club president Kieran Brennan today, riding his Motorbike, just after helping with the Ukraine charity all Day today in Monaghan. He will be sadly missed as our President & friend who you could always depend on. RIP KB.”

Fellow local road club, North Monaghan & District MCC, shared in the grief.
