Spate of burglaries across neighbouring Fermanagh

PSNI investigate seven burglaries in a week.

Detectives in the north are appealing for information following a number of burglaries in neighbouring Co Fermanagh area.

Last week the PSNI were notified of two connected burglaries in the village of Brookeborough where thousands of pounds worth of equipment was stolen from a shed in the Coalhill Road area of the village.

Among the items stolen include a trailer, a lawnmower, two bicycles and a number of tools worth £7,000.

Police also investigated a report of a £2,000 power washer being stolen from a nearby property in the same area, with both incidents taking place in the early hours of last Saturday morning, March 26.

Police have now been informed of several more burglaries across the south Fermanagh area.

At around 11.20am, Wednesday, March 30, four males were witnessed “behaving in a suspicious manner” in the vicinity of a house at Church Hill Road, in Derrygonnelly. “No entry was gained to the property, and nothing was reported to have been taken.”

A second report was received at around 1.30pm of a burglary at a house at Drumshimuck Road, Derrylin where the householder returned home to discover the property had been “ransacked, and money, jewellery and a number of personal items” taken.

A third report was received by police shortly before 2.25pm, that entry had been gained to a house at Duminiskill Road, Bellanaleck, and a number of “drawers and cupboards opened.”

In addition, there were a further two reports of burglaries in the Belleek and Enniskillen areas.

“At this stage, we are investigating a potential link between these incidents, and our enquiries are ongoing,” say the PSNI.
