It is with regret that we note the following deaths in our community over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Wilson Green

The death has occurred of Wilson Green, Virginia, Cavan. Friday, April 8, 2022, Virginia, Cavan, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Devoted husband to Anne, predeceased by his daughter Julie-Anne, and loving father to Cindy (John) Rachael (Alan) and Belinda (Paul) and adored grandfather to Katie, Adam, Stuart, Megan, Niall, Gavin, Ava and Benjamin. Deeply regretted by his brothers David (Sarah) and Christopher (Jane) and nephews Tim Gavin (Andrea) and Andy. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Resting at Gibneys Funeral Home, Oldcastle on Sunday from 2pm to 6pm. Funeral on Monday in Virginia Parish Church at 2pm, burial afterwards in adjoining graveyard. A personal message for the family may be left in the Condolence section below. House private please.

Mary Johnston (née Dunne)

The death has occurred of Mary Johnston (née Dunne) Rocklands, Cavan Town, Cavan and formerly Butlersbridge,, Cavan, Thursday April 7, 2022, peacefully, surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Brian Johnston, former Cavan County Manager. Loving mother of the late Patricia Ann and daughter of the late Veronica and Joe Dunne. Mary will be very sadly missed by her daughters, Catherine, Paula, Louise and Claire, sons Kieran, Philip and Brían, sons in law Conor and Ciarán, daughters in law Louise and Therese, her adored grandchildren Oscar, Oisín, Fionn, Sibéal, Síofra, Chloe, Abigail, Emma, Sebastian, James, Emmet and Jude, brothers Raymond, Philip, PJ and Cormac, sisters Gabrielle and Colette, sister in law Ann, nephews, nieces, all her family circle and her good friends. May she rest In peace.

Reposing at the Mc Mahon Funeral Home, Farnham Rd, Cavan on Sunday from 2pm, concluding with prayers at 4pm. Walk through only please and no handshakes or hugs. Removal from the funeral home on Monday morning at 10.30am to St. Aidan's Church, Butlersbridge, arriving for funeral mass at 11am. Following mass, burial will take place in St. Aidan's Cemetery. No flowers please. Donations in lieu to Cystic Fibrosis Cavan. House private please.

Tom Kelly

The death has occurred of Tom Kelly Killakeen Ballyheelan, Kilnaleck, Cavan. Tom died peacefully at the General Hospital, Cavan on Friday 8th April 2022. Predeceased by his parents Jimmy and Mary Ann. Sadly missed by his sister Noleen and brothers James and Pat, cousins, neighbours, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Reilly's Funeral Home, Kilcogy on Sunday evening from 4pm. until 6pm (walk through only and no hand shaking please) followed by removal to St. Mary's Church, Ballynarry arriving at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Monday at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in adjoining cemetery. House strictly private at all times please.

Audrey Palmer

The death has occurred of Audrey Palmer, Aughagoldrick, Stradone, Cavan amd Gardiner Street, Dublin. Friday, April 1st, suddenly. Predeceased by her son Christopher and mother Breda.

Deeply regretted by her loving father Eddie, daughter Danielle, brother Andrew, sister Lyndsey, her partner Damien, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. At rest. Funeral arrangements later.

Margaret McKenna

The death has occurred of Margaret McKenna (née Murray) Coolshannagh View, Monaghan Town, Monaghan and Ballycroy, Mayo peacefully at Drakelands Nursing Home, Kilkenny.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Jimmy, her parents John and Ellen Murray, her brothers Jack, Tom and Felix and her sister Mary.

A wonderful mother who will be sadly missed by her children Siobhan, John, Eileen and Maureen, daughter in law Maureen, sons in law Phil and Jason, sisters Kathleen and Dolly, her grandchildren Conor, Cara, Sinéad, Mairéad, Liam, Owen and Seamus, sisters in law, brothers in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends, RIP.

Reposing at her home on Saturday from 4 pm. until 8 pm. and on Sunday from 4 pm until 8 pm, subject to Covid 19 guidelines. House private at other times please.

Removal on Tuesday at 10.15 am, arriving at St. Macartan’s Cathedral, Monaghan for Funeral Mass at 11 am. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s New Cemetery, Latlurcan.

Aidan Mc Quillan

The death has occurred of Aidan Mc Quillan, Enagh, Ballybay, Monaghan. , Thursday April 7 at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Terry and Áine Mc Quillan. Deeply regretted and remembered with love by his wife Margaret, daughter Emma, sons Shane and Stephen, son in law James, daughter in law Ellen, his cherished grandson Rudi, brothers in law, sister in law, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, the local drama groups, Ballybay Pearse Brothers and many friends.

May Aidan’s gentle soul rest in eternal peace. Aidan will repose at his family home in Enagh Lane tomorrow Saturday from 2pm until 6pm and again on Sunday from 2pm until 6pm. House private at all other times please.

Removal from his residence on Monday morning at 11:15am, to arrive at St. Patrick’s Church, Ballybay for funeral mass at 12noon, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Paul Rooney

The death has occurred of Paul Rooney, Leitrim, Magheracloone, Carrickmacross, Monaghan and formerly of Reaghstown, Louth, unexpectedly but peacefully aged 48 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, Thursday, 7 April 2022. Predeceased by his mother Eileen and brother Jim. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his wife Bernie, daughters, Nicole, Courtney and Michelle, father James (Jim), sisters Sharon and Ann, Nicole’s partner Damien and James’ partner Margaret, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and friends. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Reposing at his residence on Saturday from 2pm to 9pm and on Sunday from 2pm to 9pm. Removal on Monday morning to St. Joseph’s Church, Carrickmacross arriving for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Upper Magheracloone (Rock Chapel).
