It is with regret that we note the following deaths in counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Mary (Maura) Bergin (née McCabe)

The death has occurred of Mary (Maura) Bergin née McCabe, Seville Place, Dublin 1, (formerly of Augueshland, Cootehill, Co Cavan), suddenly, April 13, 2022. Predeceased by her parents, Alex and Bridget, sister Kathleen, brother Seamus and brother-in-law Jim. Mary will be deeply missed by her loving husband Liam, her children, her treasured grandchildren and daughter-in-law.

Mary will be sadly missed by her dear siblings Johnny and wife Mary, Patsy and wife Mary, Jude and wife Patricia, Michael and wife Patricia, Rita, Vera and husband Hugh, Geraldine and husband Billy, Bernard, Sarah and husband Noel, nieces and nephews, a large extended family, a circle of close friends and lifelong neighbours in the Seville Place community where Mary proudly carried out her duties as Sacristan at St Laurence O’Toole Church and where she will be greatly missed.

Mary will repose at Jennings Funeral Home, Amiens Street, Dublin 1 on Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 3pm to 5pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday morning, April 22, 2022, at 10am at St Laurence O’Toole Church, Seville Place, North Wall, Dublin 1 D01 KN73 followed by burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery, (Killycramph, Fairgreen), Cootehill, Co Cavan.

Margaret Callaghan (née Cahill)

The death has occurred of Margaret Callaghan (née Cahill) 19 Lakeland Close, Swellan Lower, Cavan Town, Cavan and formerly of Derrylurgan, Ballyjamesduff. Peacefully in the loving care of her family and the staff of St Christopher’s Hospice, Cavan. Pre-deceased by her parents Margaret and Francis, and her brother Noel. Deeply regretted by her loving husband André, her daughter Shakira, brothers Dominic, Anthony, Declan, Simon, Raymond, Carlos, sisters Rose (Van Standen), Josephine (Daly), Linda, Caroline, aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and extended family circle. May her gentle soul rest in peace. Reposing at Finnegan’s Funeral Home, Cavan from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday 20.

This will be a “Walk Through Only”, no hand shaking please. Funeral Mass, Thursday morning at 11am in St.Joseph’s Church, Ballyjamesduff followed by burial afterwards in the new Cemetery.

Ann Dunne (née D'Arcy)

The death has occurred of Ann Dunne (née D'Arcy), Belgard Heights, Dublin and formerly of Mountnugent, Cavan, Monday, April 18, 2022, peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Cherished wife of the late Jim Dunne, and beloved mother of Lorna, Susan, Alison, Vivien, Richard and Vanessa. 'Moms' will be immensely missed and remembered by all her adoring grandchildren; Jessica, Julie, Ali, Marc, Marianne, Sean, Katie, Phoebe, Conor, Nicholas and Isabelle, her great-grandchildren; Harry, Caoimhe, Chloe, Robin and Milo, and not forgetting Danny the dog, her faithful friend and protector. Ann will be greatly mourned by her sons-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, extended family and friends, especially her soul-sister, Mona.

Wonderfully creative and artistic, our mother was a superb cook. The original eco-warrior, a lover of nature and animals, she was also an avid DIY enthusiast. Ann was a beautiful and elegant woman who left her mark on all of us. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at The Brian McElroy Funeral Home, The Square, Tallaght, (opp Tallaght Stadium) on Thursday, April 21, from 5pm to 7pm. A celebration of Ann’s life will take place at the Temple, Newland’s Cross Crematorium at 10:40am on Friday, April 22.

Thomas Edward (Norbie) Fitzpatrick

The death has occurred of Thomas Edward (Norbie) Fitzpatrick, Kilnalack, Butlersbridge, peacefully, at the Oak View Nursing Home, Belturbet, in his 94th year. Predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Maura and Kathleen, brothers, Gerry, Brian, Patsy, Seamus and Anthony. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his nephew, Padraig and his wife, Catherine, their family Grace, her husband Tommy, Caoimhe, John, and Colm, nephews, nieces, extended family, friends and all who knew and loved Thomas Edward (Norbie). May he rest in peace.

Thomas Edward's remains will be reposing at Lawlor's Funeral Home, Erne Hill, Belturbet (H14 R583) on Wednesday evening (April 20), from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Removal of remains on Thursday morning (April 21) at 10.30am to arrive at St Aidan's Church, Butlersbridge for 11am Funeral Mass, with burial afterwards in Annagh Cemetery. Gertie Wallace (née Mitchell)

The death has occurred of Gertie Wallace (née Mitchell) Main Street, Shercock. Peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at Fairlawns Nursing Home, Baileborough, in her 94th year, surrounded by her loving family. Gertie will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her children Cherry, David and Irene, son-in-law Leo, daughter-in-law Catherine, grandchildren, David, Patrick, Rachel, Aimee, Emer, Kyle and Fintan, relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband Newton, sisters Florrie and Muriel, brothers Bobby and Charlie and son-in-law Thomas. Safe in the arms of Jesus. Family houses strictly private please.

Reposing at Clarke's Funeral Home in Baileborough A82W2H7 on Wednesday from 5.00 pm until 7.00pm. Removal on Thursday afternoon at 1.30 to arrive at Shercock Parish Church for Funeral Service at 2pm. Burial afterwards in the adjoining graveyard. Anyone wishing to offer their condolence may leave a message on RIP.ie.

Jonathan Treanor

The death has occurred of Jonathan Treanor Salthill, Mountcharles, Donegal, and Scotstown, Monaghan. Tragically, as a result of a road traffic accident on Monday, April 18. Loved and forever missed by his partner Marie, his mother Josephine and her partner Pauric, his sister Emma and his brothers Barry and Francis, his Granny Josie, his sister-in-law Colleen, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jonathan's remains will be waked at Salthill, Mountcharles, Co Donegal, F94 P6Y4 on Thursday 21st April from 2pm to 9pm. Removal from there on Friday 22nd April at 11.45am going to St Mary's Church, Urbleshanney, Scotstown, Co. Monaghan, H18 EP11 for funeral mass at 2pm, with burial afterwards in the adjoining churchyard. The house is strictly private on the morning of the funeral please. St Christopher have mercy on his soul.
