Additional accommodation at Dún Uí Neill campus

A new modular unit is to be purchased to boost accommodation at Cavan and Monaghan ETB.

Minister Heather Humphreys received confirmation from her Cabinet colleague, Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris, that the 1,700 square metre unit will be located at the former Dún Uí Neill Army barracks.

The unit will help further boost accommodation for CMETB and will be operational by September, according to Minister Humphreys.

It will have no impact on the plans for a state-of-the-art new building for Cavan Institute, which will further progress the expansion plans of the College.

Welcoming the news, the Minister said: “This is a strategic opportunity to address short and medium term accommodation needs for Further Education services in Cavan Town...

“This development would enable the delivery of a range of PLC programmes, including but not limited to: music production, science, beauty, sports, animal care, sports therapy and general skills programmes.

The Cavan Monaghan Fine Gael TD added: “It will also provide canteen and sports facilities and office space.

“I look forward to continuing to work with Minister Harris and the excellent team at CMETB as this college goes from strength to strength.”
