Toyota retains leading market position for new car sales
After a strong start to the first quarter of 2022, Cavan’s main Toyota dealer, Erne Motor Works has maintained its position as Cavan’s best-selling car brand.
Toyota’s market leadership underpins the mass consumer migration towards more sustainable electrified vehicles. In Cavan, hybrid electric cars have increased by 56.36%, whilst the market share of fully electric cars has increased by a considerable 38.24% in comparison with the same period last year. Diesel registrations in Cavan for the same period have seen a staggering drop in market share decreasing by 28.53% locally and 24.77% nationally.
Erne Motor Works continues to dominate the market locally with three of its core hybrid models enjoying Top 5 status. They are the Corolla, CH-R and Rav-4.
The Yaris Hybrid continues to dominate the small car-segment and the newest addition to the Toyota family in this category, the YARIS CROSS, both feature in the top 10 new car registrations in Cavan to date. The latter was recently voted 2022 World Urban Car at the World Car Awards.
Toyota’s latest addition, the New Toyota Aygo X landed at Erne Motor Works last week and is now available to test drive. This all-new Compact crossover boasts first class technology and safety features. Together with its bold design and stand out colour options, Toyota believe the latest model will appeal hugely to first time buyers.
Toyota’s first fully electric battery vehicle, the all-new bZ4X arrives to Erne Motors Works in June 2022. This innovative, efficient and dynamically designed SUV is already attracting serious interest.

However, looking forward we know supply will become an issue, so we are encouraging customers or anyone thinking of changing to low emitting hybrid and electric cars to come to our dealership and speak to our salesmen as soon as possible to guarantee delivery.”
