Cloudy, showery day ahead with some late sunshine

Weather update from Met Éireann

Cool, showery conditions will be replaced by drier and warmer weather to end the week.

Mostly cloudy and showery today with some heavier showers across the north and east. Some late sunshine will however develop in places and parts of the southwest may stay dry throughout.

Feeling rather cool with highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees, possibly touching 15 degrees in the south, in a light to moderate northwest breeze.

Showers will become isolated early tonight with a mix of cloud and clear spells. Some mist or fog patches setting in later. Cool with lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees in light northwest or variable breezes.

Some bright or sunny spells across the southern half of the country on Tuesday. Overall though it will be another cloudy day with scattered showers. More general rain will affect Ulster, moving into north Leinster later in the day. Once again though, parts of the south and southwest could stay fully dry. Highest temperatures will range 11 to 15 degrees, coolest across Ulster, in just light northwest or variable breezes.

Outbreaks of rain will gradually clear into the Irish Sea. Becoming mostly dry overnight under broken cloud with just well scattered showers following. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in a light northerly breeze.

Wednesday should be generally cloudy with scattered showers - the odd heavy one possible. However, it will become mostly dry as of early evening with some late sunshine developing. Feeling mild and humid with highs of generally 15 to 17 degrees, in just light northerly or variable breezes. Staying mostly dry overnight with light winds and clear spells; cooler with lows of 5 to 8 degrees.

Thursday is promised mostly dry and calm with mild or warm sunny spells - just a few showers across Ulster. Top temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees, best values inland.

Dry with long spells of summer sunshine and light easterly breezes on Friday. A warm day with temperatures climbing to the high teens or low 20s.

Current indications suggest it will be mostly dry and warm for the June bank holiday weekend with temperatures continuing to reach the highs teens or low 20s. Later in the weekend, Atlantic rainbelts will likely push through.
