It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Bernard Fitzsimons

Cavan Road, Ballyhaise, Cavan

Bernard Fitzsimons, Cavan Road, Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan, Sunday, June 12th 2022, peacefully, in the loving care of his family and the wonderful staff at Oak View Nursing Home, Belturbet, Co. Cavan. Beloved husband and best friend of Kathleen and devoted father of Patricia, Charles, Andrew, Elizabeth and Brian. Bernard will be very sadly missed by his loving family, son in law Tom, daughters in law Carol and Mary, his adored grandchildren Niamh, Caolán, Meadhbh, Dearbháil, Ciarán, Éadáoin, Sinéad, Aislinn, Maria, Eimear, and Emma, brother in law Pat, nephews, nieces, all his relatives, neighbours and many friends.

May He Rest in Peace.

Reposing at his home at Cavan Road (H12 WR02) on Monday evening from 4pm until 8pm and house will be private to family at all other times. The family would encourage wearing masks, walk through and no handshakes, please. Masks and hand sanitiser will be available at the door.

Removal from the family home on Tuesday morning, arriving to St. Mary’s Church, Ballyhaise, for Funeral Mass at 11am. Following Mass, the cortège will travel to Cullies Cemetery for committal service and Christian burial.

The family would like to thank all of you for your co-operation, support and understanding at this sad time for them.

Nellie Lee (née Bennett)

Formerly Virginia Road and Carrickavee, Ballyjamesduff, Cavan

Nellie Lee (nee Bennett) Castlemanor Retirement Village, Cavan (formerly Virginia Road and Carrickavee, Ballyjamesduff) died peacefully after a long illness, bravely borne, in her 89th year surrounded by her family and in the care of the wonderful staff at Castlemanor Nursing Home. Predeceased by her son Liam, her siblings Sheila, Eugene, Pat, John and most recently her beloved sister Molly (Smith). Nellie will be sadly missed by her husband Brian, children Nuala (George), Bernie, Julie, Geraldine, Brían (Jessica) and Cathal (Ciara), grandchildren Ronan, Simon, Deirdre, Aaron, Aisling, Lauren, David, Meadhbh and Clíodhna, nieces & nephews, the extended Lee and Bennett families especially her brother in law Hughie Smith and niece Claire (Lackenduff), a wide circle of neighbours and friends.

Vincie Marron

Dromgoan, Carrickmacross, Monaghan

The death has occurred Vincie Marron, Drumgoan, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, Saturday 11th June 2022, peacefully, in the care of the staff of St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his parents Peter and Alice, sisters Phylis, Bernadette, Colette and Kathleen. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his sister Carmel, brothers-in-law Paddy and David, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Reposing at his nephew Brendan’s home until removal on Monday evening at 7 pm, arriving to Saints Peter and Paul’s Church, Lower Magheracloone, for 7:40 pm. Requiem Mass on Tuesday morning at 11 am with burial afterward in the adjoining cemetery. House private at all times, please.

Ann Powell (née Cunningham)

St. Anne's Nursing Home, Ballybay, Monaghan / Clones, Monaghan

Ann Powell, (nee Cunningham) St Anne's Nursing Home, Ballybay, formerly 31 Cherry Park, Clones, Co. Monaghan. Peacefully, at Cavan General Hospital, on 9th June 2022. Predeceased by her loving husband Joe. Deeply regretted by her loving sister Teresa, nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends locally.

May her gentle Soul Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Lawlor's Funeral Home, Ernehill, Belturbet, Co. Cavan (H14 R583) on Tuesday, 14th June, from 5pm until 7pm, also on Wednesday, 15th June, from 9.30am. Removal at 10.15am to arrive at The Sacred Heart Church, Clones, Co. Monaghan at 11.00am for requiem Mass, followed by interment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Clones.
