Karlos outside his menswear store in Virginia.

Dressed to impress!

There’s plenty on offer in Virginia’s newest menswear store. Only open seven months, Karlos Conlon Menswear is already going from strength to strength. Karlos is no stranger to the menswear business though, having worked in a number of other shops across the region over the last decade.

“It’s all Irish products. It all comes the next day in deliveries. It’s all good, local stuff,” says owner Karlos Conlon. Inside the Main Street premises, there’s a wide range of clothes and accessories inside with an extensive brand range including Remus Uomo, MishMash Jeans, Walker and Hunt, Diesel and Ted Baker.

Opening any new business is a daunting task but, for Karlos, it was the right time to branch out. “It was just time to move on and do my own thing. I saw an opening here in Virginia. It’s a good town with good people. It’s been crying out for something like this.”

Karlos is keen to stress the support he has received from the Virginia community since he opened, both from customers and other businesses in the town. A self-confessed ‘blow-in’ to the area, he says he’s received a warm welcome.

“The people of Virginia are very good. I’m from Butlersbridge myself. I wouldn’t know Virginia town too well but, in fairness, the locals are all welcoming. Even the businesses, they’ve been a very good support. Everyone digs each other out.”

You’ll be sure to find something in Karlos Conlon Menswear to match either your taste or that of a man in your life. “I’d say 60 to 70% of my customers are women,” reveals Karlos.

“Men don’t like shopping. It just appears in the wardrobe and they’re well dressed!”
