Man due before courts over Cavan stabbing

Injured male since discharged from hospital.

A man is due to appear before the courts charged in connection with a stabbing in broad daylight in Cavan Town at the weekend.

The incident happened at Townhall Street shortly before 3pm on Saturday last, July 9.

Following the attack, one male was brought to Cavan General Hospital for emergency treatment on injuries described as “serious” but not life threatening.

Townhall Street in Cavan Town was closed off to traffic for a period in the wake of the attack, with eye-witnesses describing having seen large amounts of blood on the ground.

The male has since been discharged from hospital.

A second male arrested at the scene remained in custody over the weekend and is due to appear before a court in Monaghan later this morning.
