Fit-out of offices for HSE staff gets underway

Some HSE staff are expected to move from Cavan General Hospital to new offices in December.

Work is underway preparing the office building on the Dublin road in Cavan Town for staff from a number of HSE divisions.

An Bord Pleanála approved the use of the offices, located next to Blackstone Motors, by the HSE in April. Built in 2005, the offices were specified for use by the adjoining garage and showroom. A change in planning permission was necessitated to allow use by the HSE.

The HSE has agreed to rent the office building. Work began last week on the fit-out and other works at the building.

A spokesperson for the HSE said staff are expected to move in in December.

HSE staff from across Primary Care, Mental Health Services and Services for Older Persons, including Home Support, will move into the building.

The HSE told the Celt in May that a planned increase in the number of clinical and frontline staff is behind the move, with a “significant development of services” in both Cavan and Monaghan.

Around 70 additional clinical and frontline posts are to be created, leading to a need to relocate administrative staff within the hospital.
