It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Margaret Jane (Gretta) Matthews (née Drury)

Clough, Kenagh, Longford / Cavan

Formerly of Tunnyduff, Co. Cavan. Gretta passed away peacefully in the loving and gentle care of the staff at Thomond Lodge Nursing Home, Ballymahon, Co. Longford on Saturday 23rd July 2022. Gretta will be sadly missed, and remembered with love, by her husband Jimmy, brothers John (Dundalk) and Archie (Tunnyduff), sisters in law, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends and neighbours.

Safe in the Arms of Jesus.

Resting at Thomond Lodge Nursing Home (Eircode N39 C597) on Monday evening from 5pm until 6.30pm. Walk through only.Removal on Tuesday to arrive at St. George's Church of Ireland, Kenagh, (Eircode N39 YV83) for funeral service at 2pm. Interment afterwards in the adjoining burial ground. The family very much appreciates your support and consideration at this sad time.

Bridget (Bridgie) Finegan (née McEneaney)

Derrynaglagh, Magheracloone, Carrickmacross, Monaghan

Bridget (Bridgie) Finegan, née McEneaney, has passed away peacefully at her home, Derrynaglagh, Magheracloone, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan in her 95th year, 24th July, 2022. Predeceased by her husband Tommy and her brother Peter. Fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Sheila, Jennifir, Anthony and all her nieces, nephews, neighbours, her wonderful carers, relatives and friends.

Rest In Peace.

Reposing at Kieran Bros. Funeral Home, Hall Street, Kingscourt, (A82R3W2) on Tuesday evening from 5pm to 6pm with removal to St Peter & Paul’s Church, Lower Magheracloone, arriving for 8pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday morning at 11am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Harry MURTAGH

Clonlura, Clones, Monaghan / Dundalk, Louth

Retired Garda Síochána. Peacefully in the dedicated care of the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Breege (formerly Watters, nee Rice),dear father of Tommy (Watters), Yvonne (Quinn) and Fiona (O’Hanlon), adored grandfather of Tina , Alan, Shannon, Hugh and Dylan and great-grandfather of Morgan. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Elizabeth, brothers PJ and Bobby and sister Margaret. He will be greatly missed by his sorrowing wife, son, daughters, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, daughter-in-law Catriona, sons-in-law Gerard and Seán, sisters Kitty (Gavin) and Jean (Connolly), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, Tina’s husband Anthony, Shannon’s boyfriend Brian, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

May He Rest in Peace.

Reposing at his home, 1 Railway Terrace, Carrick Road, Dundalk (Eircode A91 F7K4) from 5pm-8pm on Sunday and from 2pm-9pm on Monday, with rosary at 9pm. Removal on Tuesday at 10.30am, proceeding on foot to the Church of the Holy Redeemer, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. After Mass, the cortege will proceed, driving, via The Crescent and Town Centre to St. Patrick’s Cemetery for burial.
