Bereavement notices for Cavan and Monaghan

It is with regret that we note the following deaths from County Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie There were no deaths reported for County Cavan over the period.

Evelyn Briggs (née Twomey)

Ottawa, Canada. Late of, Oughterard, Galway / Scotstown, Monaghan / Burtonport, Donegal

Briggs, Evelyn (Née Twomey) 8th July 2022, Ottawa, Canada.Late of Oughterard, Co. Galway, Burtonport, Co. Donegal and Scotstown, Co. Monaghan, suddenly, at her residence in Ottawa, Evelyn, relict of the late Bill Briggs and beloved mother of Liam Briggs, Canada and Taiwan.

Daughter of the late Michael and Eileen Twomey and predeceased by her sisters, Mary and Jacinta and by her brothers Fr Tom, John Hillary, and Padraic.

Sadly mourned and lovingly remembered by her much loved son, Liam.Very deeply regretted by her loving brothers, Michael, Diarmaid and Dom, and by her sisters-in-law, Bridie, Sheila, Jo and Anne, and brother-in-law, Michael Glaysher, together with their children and grandchildren.

She will be remembered fondly by her Cotter cousins, Clonmoyle, Kilmichael, Co. Cork, the Twomey cousins, Ballyvourney, Co. Cork, and the O’Donnell cousins, Carraroe, Co. Galway and a wide circle of friends, most especially from Scotstown, where she spent most of her childhood.

May she rest in peace.

Her ashes will be interred in the family plot at Deansgrange Cemetery Co. Dublin following cremation in Canada.

Funeral Mass on Friday 26th August 2022 at 10.30am in The Church of the Holy Name, Beechwood Avenue, Ranelagh, Dublin 6, followed by the interment of her ashes in Deansgrange Cemetery.

Ann Mc Dermott (née Beggan)

Bishopscourt, Clones, Monaghan, H23 AN24

The death has occurred of Ann Mc Dermott, née Beggan, Bishopscourt, Clones, Co.Monaghan. Ann passed away peacefully in St James Hospital, Dublin surrounded by her devoted family after a short illness, Sunday 14th August. Ann is predeceased by her loving husband Brendan.

Cherished and adored mother of Fiona (Shane Moore) and Joseph (Aimee), devoted grandmother of Megan, Ryan, Charlee, Flynn,and Brody. Ann will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her daughter, son, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, friends and by all who knew and loved Ann.

Ann will repose at the family home (H23AN24) Tuesday evening(16th August) from 4pm to 8pm and again on Wednesday evening (17th August) from 4pm to 8pm, with removal on Thursday morning at approx 10.15am to arrive at the Sacred Heart Chapel, Clones for 11am Funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in Mount St Oliver's Cemetery, Clones. House private to family on Thursday morning please.
