Four police officers assaulted in Fermanagh

Incident happened in Bellanaleck on Thursday night

A man has been arrested after four police officers were assaulted last night.

The incident happened in Bellanaleck, Co Fermanagh on Thursday night, September 1, at around 8.20pm.

PSNI officers had received a report that a man in his 50s had been assaulted in the Mallard Heights area.

A 24-year-old man was identified, but when police attempted to arrest the male, it is understood he became aggressive.

The man is reported to have grabbed an officer by the neck before resisting arrest as police attempted to cuff him.

After being placed in the vehicle it is reported the man kicked a second officer.

He then head-butted a third.

While in custody the man is said to have spat at a fourth officer.
