Liverpool striker pens new club contract

Merseyside club a “home away from home” for Bailieborough native

“You’re stuck with me for the forseeable,” posted Cavan’s Leanne Kiernan after penning an extension to her club contract with Liverpool earlier today.

The Bailieborough-native and last year’s top scorer also described the Merseyside club as a “home away from home”.

She signed her new contract with the club ahead of the start of the upcoming Barclays Women's Super League season.

Kiernan, the 2019 Anglo-Celt Sportsperson of the Year, had a break-out year playing for Liverpool in the 2021-22 Women's Championship.

The wily No 9 was previously honoured by her club by being named their Women's Player of the Year by playing a crucial role in her side’s fight for promotion, netting 12 times in just 15 appearances.

She’s also had a blistering start to pre-season, scoring freely and rewarding the Liverpool faithful who have celebrated her success since leaving West Ham following the expiry of her contract with the East Londoners.
