Minister Heather Humphreys

€162k in funding for local projects

Four local organisations are to share in over €162,000 in funding under the CLÁR scheme.

Projects in Blacklion, Bawnboy, Mullahoran and Ballymachugh were this morning announced as being successful in this round of funding.

€50,000 will go towards upgrade works at Brackley Lough outside Bawnboy, including the provision of new changing facilities.

€44,328 will be invested in the Lough MacNean Geopark Community Amenity outside Blacklion.

€45,000 will be used to upgrade the carpark at Mullahoran GAA Club.

€23,310 is going towards an astroturf pitch and lighting at Ballymachugh GAA Club.

This round of investment is the latest to be delivered under the “Our Rural Future” programme. It was launched by the Government as part of a new rural development policy.

€2.75 million was announced by Minister Heather Humphreys for projects across the country.

The Rural and Community Development Minister said this “substantial investment” is important for local groups and organisations:

“CLÁR is one of the most important schemes in my Department and is all about supporting our sports clubs, schools and community groups, which are the lifeblood of Rural Ireland.

“They are a focal point – places where people of all ages come together to socialise and meet up with friends.

“This is an investment that will improve the lives of our young people – providing them with improved sporting facilities across the county.”
