All the Leprechauns inside the Knocknaseiga Mountain.

Fun for all the family at Kells Theatre

A talented cast of 60 performers are to bring Darby O’Gill and the Leprechauns to the stage next week.

Kells Musical Society presents Youth Musical - Darby O’Gill and the Leprechauns in Kells Theatre from Friday, September 23.

The musical is full of great comedy and foot tapping Irish songs, with the very gifted cast of 60 young performers ready to whisk you away to the imaginary town of Rathcullen and down into the Leprechaun mountain of Knocknasheega. That’s where King Brian, Queen Lizzy and all the mischievous “Little People” live.

Darby has spent his whole life chasing and trying to capture King Brian and when he finally does, he has to pay the ultimate price, or has he? The comedy duo of Troubles and Bubbles two bungling Leprechauns, the dreaded Banshee and the headless coachman along with all the townspeople led by Fr Murphy and Lady Fitzpatrick come to the aid of Darby.

The troupe will take to the stage on Friday, September 23 at 7.30pm, Saturday 24 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm and Sunday 25 at 2.30pm.

There’s plenty for all the family in the comedy musical which is written and directed by John Grant.

Costumes are by Linda Sheridan, with choreographers Helena Sheridan and Chantelle Neary also involved, along with singing tutor Kathleen McGovern.
