It is with regret that we note the following deaths in our community over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

James Noel Brady

Cuilmore, Gurteen, Co. Sligo and formerly of New Inns, Upper Lavey, Co. Cavan and Coventry.

Suddenly on October 19, in the loving care of Eithne and all the staff at Oakwood Nursing Home, Ballaghaderreen. Dearly loved husband to Janet, dearest father of Hugh (Virginia, Co. Cavan), Sharon and Kathleen (Oldcastle, Co. Meath) and devoted step-father to Stephen and Tim. Lovingly remembered by his brothers John and Paddy, sister Susan, his grandchildren Liam, Shay, Ryan, Ciara-Rose, Eoin, Lauren and Cian, daughter-in-law Karen, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends Predeceased by his brothers Tommy, Phelim and Mick and his sister Anna. Former member of the Four Masters G.A.A. Club in Coventry. May James’ Gentle Soul Rest In Eternal Peace.

James will repose at O’Dowd’s Funeral Home, Gurteen, on Monday (October 24th) from 4:30pm until 5:30pm with removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Gurteen, for Mass of the Resurrection at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday (October 25th) in St. Dympna’s Church, Upper Lavey, Knocknagillagh, Co. Cavan at 2pm with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. House Strictly Private Please. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired, to Gurteen Celtic Football Club U-14, c/o Mahon & O’Dowd Funeral Directors, Gurteen.

Harrison Jameson

Billis, Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan

Harrison passed away on Wednesday, October 19, suddenly, following a tragic car accident. Adored youngest son of John and Shirley and very sadly missed by his loving and heartbroken parents, brother and sisters Mitchell (Lynn), Victoria (Paul), Jade (John) and his treasured nieces and nephew, Mia, Emily, Max, Stella and Edith, aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends, neighbours, and the Irish Boxing Community.

Resting at Mathews' Funeral Home, Bailieborough Rd., Virginia, A82YV58, on Saturday, 22nd October, from 4.30pm until 7.30pm (walk-through only, please). House private, please, to family and friends. Funeral Service in Bellasis Presbyterian Church A82TW99, on Sunday, 23rd October, at 2.00pm. Burial afterwards in the adjoining churchyard. Donations if so desired, to Bellasis Presbyterian Church Fund, care of funeral director or any family member.

Paddy (little Paddy) Lynch

Glasscarrick, Loughduff, Cavan

Paddy died peacefully on Thursday 20th October 2022 at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Bartley and Bridie. Sadly missed by his loving wife Breda children Pauric (Aine) Laura (Peter) Sinead (Darren) sister Kathleen Philips, brothers Bart, Sean, James and Gerry, his adored grandchildren, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives neighbours and a large circle of friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing in Reilly's Funeral Home Kilcogy Village (N39W1D6) on Saturday evening from 6pm. with prayers at 8 pm. Removal on Sunday morning arriving Our Lady of Lourdes Church Mullahoran for 12 noon Funeral Mass. Internment afterwards in adjoining cemetery. House strictly private please.

No flowers by request. Donations in lieu to Beaumont Hospital c/o the undertaker.

Derek Smyth

Woodview and formerly Bracklin, Bailieborough, Cavan

Derek Smyth Woodview and formerly Bracklin, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan, died 20 October 2022, peacefully at Lisdarn Care Unit, Cavan, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Robbie & Lucy. Deeply regretted by his uncles George (Canada), Dick (UK), Bertie (Dunshaughlin), Willie (Lisball), aunts in law, cousins, relatives, work colleagues in rehab care, many friends and neighbours.

Reposing at Clarke's Funeral Home, Bailieborough, Friday 21st, from 10am to 11.30 am. It was Derek 's wish that his body would be donated to medical science.

Mary Ellen Macklin

5 Coolshannagh Road, Monaghan Town, Monaghan, H18 HR90

Mary Ellen passed away, peacefully, in the loving care of her family in her 99th year. Formerly of High Street Monaghan. Predeceased by her husband Seamus and infant son James. Sadly missed by her sons Patrick and John and daughter Marie, her daughter in law Orla and granddaughters Rebecca, Isabelle and Claudia.

Mary Ellen will arrive to St Macartan's Cathedral at 7pm Friday, 21st Oct. Mary's Funeral Mass will take place in St Macartan's Cathedral, at 2.30pm on Saturday, 22nd October, with interment afterwards in Calvary Cemetery, Latlurcan.
