Elderly pedestrian hospitalised following serious collision

The male pedestrian (90's) was taken to Cavan general hospital with serious injuries.

A man in his 90s has suffered "serious injuries" following an incident which occurred in county Monaghan yesterday evening.

The collision outside involving a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred at approximately 6:55pm, in the in Drumgeeny area area outside Carrickmacross.

Gardaí attended the scene of a road traffic collision that occurred on the N2 on Wednesday, 26 October.

The male pedestrian was taken to Cavan General Hospital for treatment of serious injuries and has since been transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where he is in a critical condition.

The N2 road remains closed in Drumgeeny and a technical examination is being conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N2 at Drumgeeny between 6:30pm and 7:15pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
