Firearms seized in connection with dissident republican activity

A rifle, a revolver and a large quantity of ammunition has been recovered by gardaí in west Cavan as part of an investigation into dissident republican activity.
The cache was seized on Monday morning last, December 12, by Gardaí attached to the Special Detective Unit who conducted a search operation in the Ballyconnell area.
“During the course of the search a .22 rifle and a revolver with a large quantity of ammunition with varying calibres were recovered,” confirmed a Garda spokesperson.
No arrests were made following the finds, and investigations said to be “ongoing”.
