It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Joe (Joey) Roe

Shankill, Shercock, Monaghan, A81 RW30 / Shercock, Cavan

The death has occurred of Joseph (Joey) Roe, Shankill, Shercock, Co Monaghan, surrounded by his loving family at Cavan General Hospital,13th January, 2023.

Predeceased by his father Eugene, and sister Annemarie. Lovingly remembered by his mother Ann, daughters Jemma (Philip) and Amy (Ethan), his grandchildren Jayden, Noah, Logan and Ethan. Deeply regretted by his siblings Martin (Denise), Kathleen (Paul), Eileen (Peter), Bridge (Brian), Eugene (Angela), Teresa (Damien), Pauline (Paul) and Thomas (Sharon). Sadly missed by his brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Rest in Peace.

Reposing at the home of his brother Thomas, Shankill, Shercock, (A81 RW30) on Sunday, 15th January, from 2pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass on Monday afternoon (16th January) at 12pm in St. Patrick's Church, Bawn with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

John Smith

Moher, New Inns, Ballyjamesduff, Cavan

Peacefully at Cavan General Hospital. Sadly missed by his sisters Helen (Moher) and Rita (California), nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Rest in Peace.

Removal from the hospital mortuary on Sunday evening to arrive at St Dympna’s Church, Upper Lavey at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Monday at 11am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. House strictly private please.

Christine Cosgrove (née Walsh)

12 St. Martin's Estate, Cavan Town, Cavan

Christine Cosgrove, (nee Walsh) 12 St. Martin’s Estate, Cavan. Friday January 13th 2023, peacefully in the loving care of her family and the staff at Medical 1 Cavan General Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Hughie and mother of the late Suzanne. Christine will be very sadly missed by her loving and devoted family, Christine, Nuala, John, Patrick, Hughie, Christopher, Michael, Mary, Francis, Andrew, Angela and Martin, sons in law, daughters in law, her adored grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother Michael, nephews, nieces, all her relatives and many friends.

May she Rest in peace.

Reposing at the McMahon Funeral Home, Farnham Road, Cavan, H12C821 on Sunday evening from 6pm until 8pm. Christine’s funeral will leave the funeral home on Monday morning at 10.40 and travelling via Farnham Road and Farnham St., to the Cathedral of Ss Patrick & Felim, Cavan arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Christine’s Funeral Mass can be viewed live on the parish website www.cavantownparish.com/webcam. Following Mass the cortège will travel to Cullies Cemetery for committal prayers and burial in the family plot.

Jim Gorman, Woodview, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan died 13th January 2023 peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Pre deceased by his parents Maureen and Johnny, brothers Patsy, Brendan and J.J. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Christine, daughters Mary and Linda, son Brian, daughter-in-law Serena, son-in-law Shane, grandchildren Rachel, Aoife, Lorcan, Sophie, Emily, Annie, sisters Jean, Chrissie, Sheila, brothers Andy and Kevin, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Cavan, Friday, January 13th, peacefully, in the wonderful care of the staff at Our Lady's Hospice, Harold's Cross, surrounded by her loving family. Sadly missed by her loving partner Paddy, brothers James, Willie and Philip, sisters Ann and Mary, brother in law, sister in law, uncle Tommy, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends.

Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan, on Sunday evening from 6.30pm until 8.30pm. Removal on Monday morning at 10.20am to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Coronea, to arrive for Requiem Mass at 11.00am, interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Vera Comiskey (née Nugent)

The death has occurred of Vera Comiskey (nee Nugent), Drumquill, Annyalla, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, Saturday, January 14th, peacefully, at Mullinahinch House, Private Nursing Home, Monaghan.

Predeceased by her parents Edward and Elizabeth Nugent, brothers Gerard and Brendan and sister Lily.

Vera, deeply regretted and remembered with love by her husband Desmond, sons Aidan (Daniela), Brian (Melissa) and Raymond daughters Elma and Freda (Darragh), her cherished grandchildren Seán, Liam, Heidi, Stíofán, Rebecca, Daithí and Roisín, brothers Kevin and Joseph, sisters Breege and Angela, sisters in law Mary, Annette, Sylvia and Betty and brother in law Benny, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.
