Four groups get funding to help employ staff

Over €300K awarded to Bailiaborough, Drumgoon, Swalinbar and Virginia under CSP

Four Cavan community groups have received news of a financial boost worth in excess of €300K combined.

The funding has been allocated for projects under the Community Services Programme (CSP), and will be used to hire full time and part time staff to run the services in 2023.

Bailieborough Development Association and Swanlinbar Development Association were the recipients of the largest awards, each worth €97,099. Meanwhile Drumgoon Community Centre received €76,066 while Virginia Show Centre were allocated €42,066.

Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys praised the work of the four organisations, adding that this funding will be crucial to supporting them in 2023.

“This funding in vital in terms of supporting community groups and community-based organisations who do important work in the ground," said Minister Humphreys.

“I’m delighted to set out the funding allocations for 2023 in order to give these groups the certainty they deserve.”
