SCEP information night at IFA monthly meeting

Cavan IFA will host an information evening at their next monthly meeting in the Kilmore Hotel on Tuesday April 11 at 8pm about the new suckler carbon efficiency programme (SCEP).

Cavan IFA Chairman Maurice Brady said it is vital that all farmers interested in the scheme attend.

“The scheme is set to replace the BDGP scheme and will run for five years. It is open to all farmers who have sucklers and with the closing date fast approaching on May 22, it is important that farmers have all the proper information before they apply.

“We will also be talking about the new dairy calf-to-beef scheme and the lime scheme,” said Maurice.

Adam Woods, the Irish Farmers Journal beef editor will be in attendance to give information about the scheme and other issues.

“Adam Woods will give a talk about the scheme and will also provide information about beef cattle prices.

“The meeting will be concentrating mainly on livestock issues, but next month’s meeting will have more of a focus on dairy farming and there will be some good speakers on it.”
